Last year our town rooster was wearing a life jacket as we prepared for flooding, having endured a winter with unprecedented snowfall – this year the rooster is prepared for keeping the Coronavirus AWAY!!!

Who knew this March 8th ritual would be our last social gathering for…indefinitely.
I was born in New Orleans which is famous for jazz music, Po’ Boy sandwiches, seafood, bakeries and maybe most of all, Mardi Gras or Carnival as we sometimes called the pre-Lenten season.
There are parades for about two weeks before the beginning of Lent, which is on Ash Wednesday, climaxing on Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday.
Every aspect of this Extra, extraordinary blue-sky day is to be celebrated!

Snow is a gift of free art supplies dropped from the sky!
*** Lake City – what a great little mountain village ~!!
Hot dog grilling and marshmallow roasting were part of the snowman building contest this beautiful blue-sky day!!!
After getting a number of both enjoyable and constructive things checked off THE LIST last Saturday, Sunday was full of fun activities!!!

Taking into consideration what is in our control and what is not, I think this is the best time of life, as is living up here in the mountains, in Lake City, Colorado. I always find it interesting from people who are considering moving up here full time, wondering what the heck do we do in the winter!

The ‘Let’s be neighbors’ sign in front of Get Some Groceries, in our little village, gives me hope. It is acknowledged worldwide that now is absolutely an extremely hard time for our nation.
The hopefulness in the banner simply comes from seeing each other as human beings.

Julie, 38 years ago today, with her 1st born child, a son, David (biblical name) Bruce (Bruce after his dad and his dad’s dad)
For me, this has been the most life altering experience ever. There’s nothing to compare to growing a person inside of your body, giving birth and being responsible for molding another person’s life, especially with everything happening for the first time.

Celebrating New Year’s Eve

At Climb in Lake City, CO

Instead of the red sauce being over powering, this light red sauce has a gentle blending of complimentary flavors. The aroma was mouthwatering and the colors – a celebration!
This isn’t just going out to eat, Climb is a dining experience ~!

Bruce and Joy deciding which tree is the right choice
For our mountain Christmases we always cut our tree. When living in suburbia, I’ve gone to a Christmas tree lot and also had an artificial tree. Cutting our own tree my favorite!
