Our Grandchildren Visit

I want my children and my grandchildren to live in a world with clean air, pure drinking water, and an abundance of wildlife, so I’ve chosen to dedicate my life to wildlife conservation so I can make the world just a little bit better. – Bindi Irwin

This is just below our home in the mountains.

Our son and his children enjoying the river on their annual visit.

Our grandchildren play where their parents once did…

The hummingbirds in our window delighted our visiting family

I have so many helpful numbers on my phone.

Alice is one of our local bakers.

Her delicious pies were a hit with everyone!

I find that a small piece of dessert is most satisfying for me.

I asked our son to let me take a picture of his shirt from the back.

David and his spouse and NASA engineers – that’s just darn cool!!

The grandchildren and I are going to fly kites.

We live here! This fact never ceases to amaze me…

It is so beautiful…

The perfect place for children….

Another picturesque moment on our nature trail as we walk to fly kites

The simple joy of kite flying

From Marry Poppins:

With tuppence for paper and strings
You can have your own set of wings
With your feet on the ground
You’re a bird in flight
With your fist holding tight
To the string of your kite

Oh-oh-oh
Let’s go fly a kite
Up to the highest height
Let’s go fly a kite
And send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let’s go fly a kite

When you send it flyin’ up there
All at once you’re lighter than air
You can dance on the breeze
Over ‘ouses and trees
With your first ‘olding tight
To the string of your kite

Oh-oh-oh
Let’s go fly a kite
Up to the highest height
Let’s go fly a kite
And send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let’s go fly a kite

Songwriters: Richard M. Sherman / Robert B. Sherman

Our middle grandchild went with Grandpa & juju to run errands

We ordered pizza & while it baked, we checked the mail…

…James helped watered the flowers we had planted at St James Church…

It is more fun to have time with our grandchildren 1on1…

Sometimes it’s still hard for me to wrap my mind around my little boy…

…my 1st born is all grown up with his own children…

Simple pleasure of a stunning sunset…

…right out our window…looking out on our front deck…

Gathering rocks to throw and skip…

Up in the treehouse Grandpa built…

Painting quietly…

3 grandkids & their puppy got noisy –

juju likes that they enjoyed concentrating on their creativity…

Parents were hiking & then having lunch in town

The Swing

BY ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON

How do you like to go up in a swing,

Up in the air so blue?

Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing

   Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,

Till I can see so wide,

Rivers and trees and cattle and all

   Over the countryside—

Till I look down on the garden green,

Down on the roof so brown—

Up in the air I go flying again,

Up in the air and down!

Bruce & I enjoy traveling to new places & having new experiences.

We like to get dressed up on special occasions & dine at our fancy local restaurant.

***it’s not stuff or shopping but the lasting memories of sharded experiences that matter…

It’s the every day, simple joys – right at home that are the best.

Hummingbirds…deer…sunsets…the nature trail…playing in the river…

Seeing a hummingbird moth in the garden…

Sharing these experiences with a new generation…

Our grandchildren…
