Service & Joy

“I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.”
Rabindranath Tagore

My friend and poet Catherine Coats shared this perfect quote in our writing community this afternoon. Tagore was a poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer and painter. He became the first Asian to win a Nobel Prize. Tagore died at age 80 in 1941. What a full life.

I started the discussion with this reading, a favorite of mine that was read in yesterday evening’s Good Friday Service. I said that I believe that’s why we are all here – to help each other. Most everyone nodded.

When Shall We Live If Not NOW?!

As well as to enjoy life….the view from our front deck we especially enjoy when we eat lunch outside.

A favorite lunch spot. The above view is to the side of the table and chairs.

Our sweet, smart, beautiful 14-month-old border collie babies join us outside.

This is Bliss.

This is Faith.

Later we take a walk on our nature trail. It’s fun to watch the puppies

rediscovering what they don’t remember from last spring.

The river – your can play in it and get a drink too!

The joy of being alive!

These border collies are always up for a game of fetch or catch!

A warm fire – a simple pleasure.

Thank you for today – it’s joys and opportunities and my husband

and our canine companions to share the day with – Amen.

May you live all the days of your life – Jonathan Swift
